Marc Sparfel was born in 1972 in Brittany in the north-west of France.
He spent his childhood in the countryside, surrounded by nature and animals. He was particularly fascinated by horses and cows.
Once he graduated from school, Marc gone first to Brest, and then to Tours to study Commerce. He subsequently completed military service, working as a technician in a puppet theater in Orleans, south of Paris. At 25 he entered the École des Beaux-Arts and studied Visual Communications. In his third year he left abruptly with an overwhelming feeling that he was wasting his time.
In 1999 he moved to Barcelona, Spain, where he still lives today. Barcelona immediately intrigued him by the amount of furniture abandoned in the street and decided to do something with it. Gradually he began to incorporate these materials in his sculptures, first in a long series of masks, inspired by tribal African artwork, and secondly in animals of all types and sizes with his unique style.
Currently his work is exhibited in galleries in Spain, France, Germany, United States and soon in UK.
